Maria Ahlberg
Application Consultant – Lumera Sweden"Lumera gave me the chance to grow in areas I never thought possible, surrounded by supportive, driven people who make work both meaningful and fun."
Why did you want to join Lumera?
From the beginning I didn’t really think it was for me. I had worked 20+ years in the insurance industry but I have not worked with technical work tasks so much. But I had a former colleague who thought that I would fit in. She worked here at the time, and she convinced me to consider the opportunity to work at Lumera.
I’m so truly grateful to her today because it is a really good place to work. Lumera was also the only one who gave me the chance to develop in areas that I didn’t master.
During the recruitment process I felt this was exactly what I liked. I could use all my skills in insurance, requirement, and test, but now I could also work with all the different clients we have. Also, I learn so much more within the software area.
What is your workday like at Lumera?
I work with two of our customers’ implementation projects. I work near the customers to be able to configure their insurance products in Lumera, I have to investigate a lot of things internally and I do a bit of scripting in SQL. But I also work more cross functional within the organization with my specialty, application area collective agreed pension. Then I work with all our swedish customers when they have new requirements or have problems.
Most often I have the chance to learn new things through my colleagues.
What is the most developmental aspect of your job?
For me it is to learn the technical aspects since I don’t have that type of background, but also to teach others about insurance and our customers.
How would you describe Lumera as a workplace in just a few words?
A place full of competent, supportive, and very driven people who also has a lot of fun together.
What do you do when you are not working at Lumera?
At my spare time, I like to spend time with my family but since my kids are growing old, I can do a lot of other things.
I like to hang in the gym and to have different activities with friends after work such as going to the theatre or just having a nice dinner and chatting.
